In a week’s time Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Libertines and Run DMC headline the sold-out Kendal Calling festival. Now in its 13th year, the festival is back and bigger than ever! If you were lucky enough to get a ticket, then it is definitely time to pack your bag and get excited!
The festival takes place in the gorgeous lake district, so you will be surrounded by rolling hills and natural beauty, perfect to wake up to when you have had a big night. With food from all over the world available you can eat your way around the festival if drinking isn’t your thing. They also have independent craft stalls, festival wear and, of course, glitter! And if you are feeling a bit posh you can push the boat out and have some luxury with various executive camping options available.
Whether you are into rock, indie, rap or pop, this is the festival for you! The line-up is a huge mix of up and coming artists and established megastars including: Shed Seven, Lady Leshuur, Bugsy Malone, Marmozets and Hacienda Classical. As well as DJ sets from: The Basment Jaxx, Grandmaster Flash, The Coral and Tim Burgess and comedy from Mark Watson, Rachel Fairburn and Katie Mulgrew.
This year the festival is taking on new environmental innovations, including giving away 10 000 re-useable water bottles, are avoiding the use of single use plastics (both with bottles of water and eating utensils) and separating food waste to compost. Great work! The organisers have also listened to feedback and put in better entrance procedures and re-jigged the campsites, including increasing the family camping area.
Kendal calling is now completely sold out so if you have missed out on tickets you will have to keep an eye out for the highlights on social media. If you are at the festival, tag @girlsthatgig in your photos so we can keep up with your antics!
