Girls That Gig to host networking event at Red Bull’s #NormalNotNovelty Leeds workshop

Shout it from the rooftops: ya gurls at Girls That Gig will be hosting at networking event at the Leeds leg of the Red Bull Studios’ #NormalNotNovelty tour. Oh yeah.

Red Bull’s #NormalNotNovelty tour is a series of female-only workshops that will tour the UK this September, partnering with music production colleges in each city.

The female-led initiative hopes to break the stigma of life behind the recording studio glass, encouraging women to get involved in music productions, engineering and DJing.

As if this wasn’t enough good news for one day, these sessions will be free. Aspiring female music producers, DJs and sound engineers can sign up via the Red Bull Studios website.

World-leading female experts and hometown heroes make up the programme for the four-stop tour. In Leeds, Dr Mariana Lopez will give a talk, imparting her knowledge as a master of post-production and sound design. As the Vice Chair of the Audio Engineering Society, her session will surely be a highlight of the tour. The Leeds workshop will also feature Ibiza regular Ceri, who will lead the production masterclass, and drum & bass pioneer DJ Storm (of Storm and Kemistry) will bring her 30-year experience to a DJ workshop.

Heralded for its onus on networking, #NormalNotNovelty will be paired with a late-evening meet and greet. It stands out as being one of the most rewarding programs for women looking to gain an insight into the industry.
