On the 10th of August, after about 8 proper practices, my band Witch Fever had their first gig at Zombie Shack in Manchester as a headliner!
I’ve always found gigging a bitter-sweet experience! I love being on stage, performing, singing, screaming, however there is a certain amount of anxiety that comes with it. We’re a fairly new band and already had the gig booked before Witch Fever even found me as a vocalist so we used this gig as a deadline to get a set together. And we bloody did it! We played a half hour set of 5 originals, 1 instrumental and a cover to a crowd of about 40/50 people, and despite some technical difficulties and mistakes people really seemed to enjoy it!

I was worried about forgetting my lyrics as nerves always give me a brain fog, but after writing some on my arm and keeping a little book onstage with me I managed it! I worry that this makes me unprofessional, but having the safety blanket there in case I need it lets me perform better.
Unsurprisingly, because of the all-girl vibe, people seem to be quite interested in what we have to play. Our next booked gig is at AATMA supporting Mouses – lets hope I don’t have to write lyrics on my arm for this one!
p.s. Emilia and I have officially committed to the Witch Fever life – oops!
